It is a very thrilling subject to experience and share the experience with others. At old time it was, too difficult to try scuba diving photography as adventure. But now time has changed and it is easier with the finest and quality underwater camera. So, all credit goes to underwater digital camera or photography for which it is possible to get perfect shots even under water. And the best thing is that for the underwater camera technology now peoples are having interest at the scuba diving photography as profession.
What is Scuba Diving Photography?
Scuba diving photography is a process of taking images while under water. It is done by special underwater camera. It can also be done during diving on surface by scuba divers.
Tips for Doing Scuba Diving Photography:
So, how to do scuba diving or what to do for taking perfect shot at scuba diving photography? Here are some useful steps mentioned. Let’s have a look on it-
1.     To get best results capability to float perfectly in the water is most important.
2.     Scuba divers should have mastering skill of buoyancy. So, before attempting to take shots under water it is necessary to be sure about the right weight and perfect BCD. So that he can able to control his buoyancy with his camera system.
3.     It is important for scuba divers to know about the environment under the water and about the animals lives there where he is going to scuba diving. So that he can float neutrally and take shots.
4.     Don’t forget to take extra flash light for your camera. Because more less light will be available for underwater deeper you will go while scuba diving photography.
5.     Before attempting scuba diving photography, try out in a pool with your underwater camera and other scuba diving equipments to ensure that they are functioning properly.
6.     Always try to keep your camera out of the sun and away from heavy equipment while you are out of the dive boat.
7.     There are two important rules to follow while shooting pictures under water. Try to shoot at upward angles and before that get close to your subject of photography preferably within 12 inches. So that frame will be filled and permits to get separate photography object from the background. Because water reduce contrast and color of camera system.
8.     Avoid trying to shot everything that you see. Try to focus on a specific type of scuba diving photography like scenic or close up. Never shoot ‘down’ at the photography subject under water.
9.     Before beginning scuba diving photography set out your underwater camera system to the lowest ISO, highest resolution and auto white balance.
10.  Try to shoot in 20 ft or less but not more than that while shooting with natural light under water.
11. Set Sutter speed  of your camera with 1/30th for still photography subject, 1/60th for slow moving animal images and 1/125th of faster moving object to get clear and sharp pictures.
12.Try to avoid of using digital zoom during scuba diving photography. It makes disturbance in getting clear images.
13. Don’t use long zoom lens with your camera while scuba diving photography.
14. Most of the new and non-professional scuba divers do not read instructions given in ‘Beginner’s Underwater Photography Guide’ which is considered as great mistake for them. Because there may be written something which you might don’t know or which you didn’t learn at your scuba diving photography class.
